In yet another case of reckless driving, two young girls in a Honda Accord car hit a motorbike, killing two of a family in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening.
Both five-year-old Harpreet and 21-year-old Sukhwinder Singh died on their way to the hospital. After the accident girls took lift in another car and fled.
An eye witness said the car was at great speed. “With the impact of the accident the man fell over the car and the child fell on the road. As we were picking them up we saw two girls coming out of the car and they fled,” said Sarabjit, an eyewitness.
The inconsolable family wants justice.
“It is my request that the culprits should not go scot free. You can see our condition, he was my younger brother,” said Navdeep Singh, victim’s brother.
Police have registered a case and are looking for the girls and the owner of the car. Also they are trying to find out whether the girls were under the influence of alcohol.
“We have now found an eyewitness who was at the spot, we have taken his statement and accordingly we have registered an FIR,” said Mahavir Singh, SHO Sector 3 Police Station.
In an effort to catch the girls, a couple of police teams have fanned out across the city.
