Rumor has it that Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, stars of Oscar Winner Slumdog Millionaire, are getting hot and heavy. As in candlelit dinners, walks along the beach, and a little boom boom zoom zoom. As devoted fans will know there is a six year age gap between the two, with Freida playing the role of Mrs. Robinson to Dev Patel. My personal take on this is that Freida is too beautiful to be with the scrawny pre pubescent Dev Patel. I understand the emotions of going through this overwhelming experience together has brought them closer, but lets face reality. Dev Patel better takes lots of pictures with celebrities while he can. His career as an actor is pretty limited. I doubt he will be involved with another movie as successful as Slumdog Millionaire in his lifetime. I doubt he goes on to have the same kind of success and adoration Kal Penn has enjoyed for the last 5 years. More than likely he will fall back into obscurity after the Slumdog Millionaire fanfare is over. Freida Pinto, on the other hand, appears to be headed for a long and prosperous career in Hollywood working with Hollywoods hottest men. While the prospect of Latika and Jamaal having a real life romance is “cute”, I think Freida’s career will continue to soar if she remains single and continue to push the marketing machine and imprint her brand on the people of the world as the sexy leading lady she is destined to be.
